God extends mercy upon Uganda

It is becoming a very inappropriate custom for President Museveni to speak in glowing terms about witchcraft during the national prayer breakfasts, and this year’s celebrations at State House were no different.

Sanitizing it as “traditional religion,” the president recounted a couple of stories during the bush war when he followed the counsel of witch doctors. But before delving into a couple of stories, perhaps as a move to normalize it, he felt the urge to emphasize that he is in good company.

“The traditional religion is very strong. In Buganda here, all those people you see saying they are Catholics, they are Protestants, they are Basiramu (Muslims); they are all from (traditional religions),” Museveni said.

He continued to reveal how a certain early morning military incursion was delayed by almost two hours on the orders of a spiritualist in Nakaziba. On another occasion he was an active participant. After jumping over a slaughtered chicken three times, the presiding spiritualist assured him that even with one gun, he could overrun Kampala.

He proceeded to biblically validate his “open-religious approach” during the bush war stating that it is the core message of Jesus in the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Yet in spite of this brazen blasphemy against God, on the same day the Lord still extended mercy upon Uganda. Ministering during his weekly Tuesday fellowship on October 8, Prophet Elvis Mbonye was moved to tears as he interceded for the country, specifically the leaders to heed the voice of God.

“Thus says the Lord, ‘I will move once again and give these people another opportunity. And if they heed you, then I will lift up and I will cause what was eating you up to be healed and I will cause you to flourish, and I will cause My voice and My word to be in the ears and hearts of every man and every woman, every boy, every child in this land, and I will cause an awakening as never before,’ says the Spirit.

For My salvation has been once again extended. And the hearts, and the minds of the people shall hear My voice and shall feel My spirit for the harvest truly is great, says the Spirit of the Lord upon the nation of Uganda, in the name of Jesus,” the prophet revealed the word of the Lord.

Prophet Elvis fervently continued to declare new tidings for the nation, specifically the leaders; “Father, we pray, for the leaders of this country, from the president, to the parliament, to the judiciary, to the academicians. We pray for Uganda, Father, in the name of Jesus, that according to Your word, they will be infused with wisdom, wisdom from on high, Father. Father we pray that every altar be dismantled, in the name of Jesus, and Father Your light shines. And today we declare that new grace and new mercy come upon this nation. And we receive your blessing upon this land. We bless it, Father. We bless Uganda, in the name of Jesus.”

Many people may not appreciate the need for the leaders to heed God’s instructions from proven mouthpieces, because they are ignorant concerning the correlation between the spirituality of the leaders and how the country turns out.

The latest example has been Kenya. On October 23, 2023 Prophet Mbonye revealed that Kenya had fallen prey to the schemes of the devil and instituted a presidential taskforce to draft a regulatory framework governing religious organization in Kenya, in response to the unfortunate “Shahakola massacre” in which over 400 people died in April 2023.

The prophet strongly cautioned against this move, advising the authorities to drop it in its entirety lest they brought judgement upon Kenya. President Ruto did not heed. What followed were the floods, then the Gen Z riots and the recent impasse between President William Ruto and the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, leading to the latter’s impeachment.

Much of what ails Uganda today, politically, economically, or socially could be directly tied to the failure by our leaders to heed the voice of God. The nation’s response to the pandemic is a prime example. Our leaders chose the popular path of lockdowns, quarantines, curfews, school closures in total disobedience to God’s guidance as exemplified by Tanzania’s late president John Pombe Magufuli.

To date Uganda is still reeling from the effects of the wrong decisions made by our leaders during that time period. The theme of this year’s national prayer breakfast was; Psalm 11:3 “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Today, what the righteous must do is to heed to the word of His prophet.
